I was three. There were five kids and we literally screamed at our parents and said, “We are never going to eat meat again.” Because we were on a boat, and they were catching fish, and they were throwing fish against the side of the boat in order to kill them, they are flopping around, so these kids, there were five of us, no there were four of us, one of them was pregnant with my younger sister, and it was undeniable that it was brutal, barbaric and horrible for us, and so we said that. I remember my mum not being to answer and we said, ‘Why didn’t you tell us that’s where meat came from?’ And she didn’t know what to say. I feel like I have this memory of seeing her crying.Joaquin Phoenix on Becoming Vegan

I used to eat burgers and steak but I would just feel knocked out afterward; I had to give them up. Dairy was first, though. I was on a bus when I was about 24 and this girl saw me blow my nose – and I had acne all over my face. She told me I was obviously lactose intolerant and that if I gave up dairy my symptoms would disappear in a matter of days. She was right.Woody Harrelson on Becoming Vegan
Having starred in countless films over his lengthy Hollywood career, Baldwin has stuck to a vegetarian diet for decades before recently becoming vegan.
In 2011, Baldwin was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic and had to make changes to his diet. This involved ditching the milk, eggs and yoghurt and sticking to plant based foods. After switching to his new diet, Baldwin lost over 30 lbs and reversed his pre-diabetic symptoms. This just goes to show how healthy a plant based diet is.
He also narrated PETA’s Meet Your Meat video back in 2002.
One of Baldwin’s most famous quotes is the story of how he became vegan.
I quit eating beef when I was somewhere between 10 and 13 because we do have cows and I did bottle feed them and stuff like that. They were like my pets. I had an incident one day that made me refuse to eat beef ever, ever again. Later on, my neighbor had pigs, and I thought they were cute, and it just kind of went on and on from there. I phased it out over a period of time. My parents were actually banding calves. Basically, it was to make them grow bigger so people could eat them, and they were so cute, and it just made me sad.Alec Baldwin on Veganism
